Ground Breaking Binaural Granular Synthesizer.

DUST is a synthesizer plugin based on a real-time particle simulation, where each particle is a separate granulating sound source. The motion of each particle is determined by the flow field, which determines the force applied to each particle at each point. Just like how the flow of a river determines the path of a leaf floating down in it. This is our most ambitious software release to date, and you are going to love it! Not only is DUST addictive to play with, but it generates some of the coolest sounds ever created.

Suprising Results

Dust is challening, at first. Since the UI is not what you would call intuitive. However, once you get the idea, you really get surprising results. You can feed the tool with quite a number of audio files, which makes the results rather complex. In a way, Dust reminds me of Sound Particles, which is more focussed on moving sound sources around, whereas Dust is more on the granular side, I think. So, to me Dust is a very good complement.

Pretty neat.

A fun piece of software--haven't had a chance to really use it a lot but they were asking for a review.

Runs nice and stable on my Win11/StudioOne set up. Installation and registration were trouble-free. There's a lot to this plugin, but it's layout is clear and intuitive. Had little trouble navigating to things even before checking the manual.

I am sure as I use it more my impressions of Dust will be more worth writing down.

Dust is wonderful to make atmospheric sounds. The granular engine produces very often pleasing sounds. The level of control you have on emitters, triggers, movements creates a never seen before equilibrium between control and the generative, ever evolving character of this synth. What's more the possibility to arrange the emitters over the entire panorama of sound makes it a 'must have'

Dust is a great granular, can be used as synth or effect. incredible modulation, that is the signature of Dust. the Convulotion Effect, transform the complete sound. an extra to the already many transformation you can make with your own samples.
whirling in space, the grains as particles, with gravity...
